Image Tagging - 'Facebook' style
 

My suggestion would be to implement 'Facebook' style image tagging.

I've seen a similar open source system implemented for gallery, which is demoed here and available for download (GNU) here.

In essence, the system would allow you to select an area of an image, then associate it with a user. The searchable user list could include all forum members and any user tagged in an image would be sent a PM telling them they've been tagged (perhaps an option in usercp to turn this off).

Additionally, there would be a list of non-members who can be added by those who have appropriate permissions - this would allow tagging of celebrities (or in my case rugby players).

A field in the description area would show all users tagged in the image, with links to other images in which the user is tagged, and to the user's member page.

I would also love this feature and think it is now one of the most asked for features across alot of the gallery applications thanks to the growth of facebook

Actually Susan and I have built something like this (image tagging) on ikeafans.com. Take a look at http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/proje...elizabeth.html for an example. We've (meaning us and Hugh, who did all the coding!) put a LOT of work into it, but I think the final result is pretty dang cool. :-)
