Im trying to sort out a custom gallery for my web page

and i want to integrate a gallery within it, however i want to display the pictures, well basicaly NOT in a module if you know what i mean
if you visit here
www.cgempire.com/index4.php ( temporary page im working on) and look for where you see thumbnail images across the top and the side.
for instance can i display gallery images in a none vbpage like index4.php ?
I would like to display them as
featured image ?
latest images ?
top rated ?
anyone know if this is possible with this ?
any help would be utterly fantastic as im at my wits end trying to sort this out.
