Check out the FAQ titled " gd keeps saying it can't find png or jpeg support. I did install libpng and libjpeg. What am I missing?" at http://www.boutell.com/gd/faq.html. What 'Configure Command' is showing on your phpinfo page? Also check out Table1 under the 'Requirements' section at http://www.php.net/gd.
